He provides strategic guidance and mentoring for BI, Performance Management, and Business Analytics programs - the areas where business effectiveness, efficiency, and agility are driven.

Dave consults with The Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI) to manage curriculum and plan educational events. He teaches at nearly all of the TDWI conferences and works on a contract basis as TDWI’s primary course developer.  He is a founding partner and Director of Education at eLearningCurve, where he also works as a course developer and instructor, and as a board member for Certified Data Steward (CDS).

Dave is a continuous learner, currently fascinated with understanding how we think, both individually and organizationally.  He studies and practices systems thinking, critical thinking, lateral thinking, and divergent thinking, and is now working to develop deep understanding and appreciation for the art and science of innovation.

Presentation: Introduction to DataOps - Intelligent and Automated Data Operations

Agile data management has become a necessity for organizations that need to maximize the value of their data. Demand for data outstrips the capacity of IT organizations and data engineering teams to deliver.  New data management practices that adapt the practices DevOps to support data operations (DataOps) are the key to agility in data management.  Most organizations don’t reap the benefits of data science.  They can’t deliver data quickly enough, they can’t hire enough data engineers, and the analytic models that they build are infrequently operationalized.  Data delivery is the bottleneck.  To keep up with the growing demand for data and information we need DataOps—a new approach to developing and delivering data pipelines and analytic models.

    You Will Learn:

    • The defining characteristics of DataOps.
    • The value proposition for DataOps.
    • The processes and challenges of data and analytics development and operations.
    • DataOps processes and methods to overcome development and operations challenges.
    • Key technologies and how they work to enable Intelligent Data Operations.
    • Tips and recommendations to start your journey to the future of data management and data science with DataOps.
